"Expedition" parka in Ventile® cotton
Inspired by the parkas worn by early 20th century mountaineering pioneers and explorers, it offers despite its vintage look optimal protection against bad weather thanks to its water repellent Ventile® cotton fabric and quilted lining.
Ventile® fabric was developed by a dedicated team of scientists from the Shirley Institute in Manchester with the original goal of replacing fire hoses.
In 1939 England was at war: pilots flying over the Atlantic needed a garment that was both comfortable in the cockpit and protective in case of water contact. That’s how Ventile® fabric was born.
In 1953 Sir Edmund Hillary reached the world’s highest point on the first summit of Everest wearing a garment made of Ventile® fabric.
